JAN-PRO is continuing to sweep the nation.
The brand has 133 regional master franchisees worldwide. They’re in 14 counties. They sold an additional 1,458 units in 2015 alone. And according to Scott Thompson, vice president of franchise development for the No. 1 fastest-growing cleaning company, JAN-PRO is just getting started.
For 2016 development, Thompson said there are 75 territories where JAN-PRO would like to add master franchisees, who will then award franchises to help local business owners grow the brand in their respective communities. From a regional development perspective, JAN-PRO is targeting Des Moines, Iowa; Honolulu, Hawaii; El Paso, Texas; and the Western part of Texas, including Midland and Odessa.
But the brand has their sights set on smaller markets, too. Redding, Pennsylvania; Myrtle Beach, North Carolina; Wilmington, North Carolina; and Montgomery, Alabama are other viable areas with immense potential. According to Thompson, any region with plenty of businesses makes for an ideal location for the brand.
“When we look at cities and territories to develop JAN-PRO in, it really comes down to the amount of business in the area. There needs to be restaurants, banks, fitness facilities, hospitals, schools and any other type of buildings where people congregate,” Thompson said. “If the town has an everyday Mainstreet that’s lined with businesses, chances are, JAN-PRO will succeed. When you consider how nearly every mid-sized city out there fits these criteria, it’s clear that the brand can really thrive just about anywhere.”
But Thompson believes that it’s JAN-PRO’s validation that really accelerates their growth.
“JAN-PRO has the best validation of any franchise system I’ve seen. People will give raving reviews, even after they’ve left the system to pursue other opportunities,” Thompson said. “It’s what our master franchisee program does for people that really changes lives—they have the opportunity to build a business and help others be successful in that business.”
There are many benefits of being a master franchisee, one of which is the security of recurring revenue.
According to the JAN-PRO Franchise Disclosure Document’s Item 19 earnings claim, JAN-PRO Master Owners can make nearly $4-million in annual revenue and nearly $1-million in. But JAN-PRO’s benefit is two-fold—master franchisees are also rewarding meaningful business opportunities to people in the community looking to change their lives and become self-sufficient as unit franchisees.
“The stories that we hear from or franchisees are truly heartfelt. Some of these people couldn’t catch a break in life. With JAN-PRO, they were able to build something special. These people come in with $1,000 to buy a franchise, and a year later, they could have a half-a-million dollar business or a wildly successful business they can be proud of. They come in to work every day excited to run their company and clean their community,” Thompson said.
Startup costs for a new Master Franchisee are initially based on a franchise fee of $20,000 per 100,000 population. JAN-PRO estimates that the total investment should range from $172,750 to $757,000, depending on real estate, location and working capital needs.
