With the help of the annual Your Family First Scholarship Program, two students are awarded an added boost to continue their education.
JAN-PRO of Colorado recently announced the recipients of its $2,500 scholarship to help offset college expenses for deserving family members of its unit franchise owners. As part of the second annual Your Family First Scholarship Program, the scholarships awarded to Stephanie Montes and Junieth Castro will enable them to continue their education.
Junieth, whose grandfather is a JAN-PRO franchisee, is in her freshman year at the Community College of Denver studying pre-med, and she currently works at the local Children’s Hospital while juggling her other job—assisting low income families in Denver as a certified tax-preparer. She hopes to become a physician’s assistant one day.
The daughter of Jose Castro, also a JAN-PRO franchisee, Stephanie is currently completing her second freshman semester at the Art Institute of Colorado, where she’s studying fashion and design. When she’s not in school, she volunteers at her church, plays soccer and coaches a Little League team.
The JAN-PRO Your Family First Scholarship was launched in 2014, and 70 scholarships were awarded. This year, the company once again awarded a total of 70 scholarships, totaling approximately $150,000.
“So many of our franchisees over the years have told us they joined JAN-PRO in order to build a business and leave a legacy for their families,” said Eddie Curry, CEO of JAN-PRO’s subsidiary, Premium Franchise Brands. “We know there is no greater legacy than a good education, so we recognized that giving back in this way helps rewared both our hard-working franchise owners and provides their families with the ability to offset the rising cost of a college education.”
